The director’s new project features big names, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Anne Hathaway
Lupita Nyong’o is the latest name confirmed for the next film by Christopher Nolanstill untitled. The launch is scheduled for July 2026, with Matt Damon in negotiations for the lead role, alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya and Anne Hathaway (via NME). Damon, who played General Leslie Groves in Oppenheimermay return in another partnership with Nolan.
While plot details are still under wraps, rumors suggest the film could be a period horror set in the 1920s, possibly featuring vampires. However, sources from The Hollywood Reporter reveal that none of the speculation so far reflects Nolan’s true idea for the plot.
Nolan returns to Universal for this project after refusing a million-dollar proposal from Warner Bros.with whom he worked from 2002 to 2020, on hits such as Batman: The Dark Knight, Dunkirk and The Origin. The change occurred after the director criticized the simultaneous release of 2021 films on streaming HBO Maxa strategy adopted by Warner Bros.
