Have you been waiting for 9 years, when we will be able to watch the film from this cult series?

Rarely has a series had such chaotic production as Community. Created by Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty), this program features several characters of various ages and backgrounds who gather to take evening classes at a community college.

This starting point, reminiscent of the movie The Breakfast Club, is clearly just an excuse to start a completely crazy adventure. In addition to the quality of the writing that sets it apart from other sitcoms, Community could also count on a solid cast: Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, and even Chevy Chase.

Very popular with the public since its release, the series never failed to generate a large audience. At the end of the third season, show creator Dan Harmon was fired by Sony Pictures Television due to a turbulent relationship with the production teams. The 4th season of the show was filmed without him and the fans criticized him severely.

Six seasons, but no movie yet

After a year-long journey through the wilderness, Dan Harmon was finally hired to write Season 5 of the theme. The series then had to deal with the stormy departure of Chevy Chase, who was forced to exit, especially because of the racist remarks he made against his partner Donald Glover. The latter also left the series during season 5 to devote himself to personal projects.

Deprived of its two main cast members, Community is doomed, and the show’s cancellation at the end of its fifth season comes as no surprise. Fans were urged to mobilize to save the series, then Dan Harmon launched the hashtag #SixSeasonsAndAMoviewhich can be translated into French as #Six seasons were filmed.

The community mobilization finally paid off as the sixth and final season finally saw the light of day on Yahoo! (Without Yvette Nicole Brown, due to personal reasons). Since the series ended in 2015, no Community feature has been made, despite repeated requests from fans. However, the actors of the series and Dan Harmon are not responsible for this situation.

The project was not abandoned

According to the latest information, the project is still ongoing. in the given interview The Hollywood ReporterDonald Glover – who confirms he will indeed be part of the adventure – mentioned recent discussions with Dan Harmon about the script. It will probably be about the Greendale Community College Alumni Reunion.

All that remains is to be patient and hope that the planets will align in such a way that everyone’s busy schedule will allow time for the film community to shoot. Either way, fans will be relieved to know that no one has given up yet.
