After reaching 10.7 million screenings in cinemas, making it the biggest success of 2024 in France, the comedy Un p’tit truc en plus is broadcast tonight on Canal+. An opportunity to introduce this much-talked-about film about two gangsters (Artus and Clovis Kornilak) who seek refuge at a summer camp for the disabled.
Artus had never seen it
Supervised by Artus himself, the shoot took place near Malleval-en-Vercors in Isère, a location that caught Artus’ eye as soon as he saw it, as mayor Christophe Durand told our colleagues Parisian : “When Artus arrived here, it took my breath away. It was love at first sight. He immediately said: ‘We will make a film here and nowhere else!’
The cottage had no electricity!
Gîte (actually a converted barn)
In the film, young people with disabilities arrive at their usual holiday home, but in reality it was a “An old derelict barn from the 19th century, built in the middle of this incredible mountain pasture where cows graze in the summer”writes Le Parisien. BARN… WITH NO BASE MINIMUM!
“There is no electricity, no water, the road is small, impassable for trucks”– announced the mayor. “It’s been so little used that it’s partially covered with moss in the middle, Artus has never seen it.” To move the film equipment, the mayor actually brings out a snowplow, the only one that can reach the site.

Artus and Alice Bellaid
The film crew stayed at Les Galopins Inn in the village. Owner Philippe Ladner confides to Le Parisien: He wanted to stay a little further away, in a bigger place, but it was so busy that it was more practical here, a stone’s throw away from the filming location. Finally, Artus stayed in the last room, the smallest!
From filming, this room was called… Artus’s room.
Artus was taken away from the shower?
“He didn’t even have a shower, so every day Artus had to cross the village with his towel to go to the communal gite on the other side of the road to wash. (…) He didn’t get much. Seriously, even if he was very hardworking, he was very busy filming , perhaps if the film is successful, it is thanks to the good vibes of Malleval, the energy of the mountains, even the coolness of the altitude that prevailed during the shooting”.

Whether you visit a gîte or practice rowing like in the movie, it is possible that Malleval-en-Vercors will become a very visited place after the great success of Un p’tit truc en plus.
