A passion for cinema is not limited to experiencing it in one’s own corner, but to sharing it with as many people as possible, especially the youngest and Les Arcs Film Festival He understood well!

Once again this year, the festival dedicated to European cinema offers a program entirely dedicated to budding film lovers, from children to adults, to introduce them to unique and diverse cinema. In addition, educational activities are also held during the event.

From the 14th to the 21st of December, the festival teams will meet you at the ski area of ​​Les Arcs to take part in the family festivities. Meetings with film specialists, fun workshops, stunning visits… The program includes many educational activities, including two “Music and Film” masterclasses in partnership with 22D Music and Sacem, dedicated to Hola Frida’s films, whose music was composed. by Laetitia Pansanel-Garric and The Count of Monte Cristo, with an original soundtrack composed by Jérôme Rebotier.

A group of high school students will also form a youth jury that will have the opportunity to review the films in the official competition and meet the professional jury.

Colorful choice!

Perfectly suited for young audiences from kindergarten to high school, the festival’s youth selection consists of a program of 5 feature films, 1 short film and 2 short films.

Here are the movies you should discover this year:

  • Along the Water, a program of five short films exploring the theme of water. Gentle and poetic, these animated films immerse us in charming and colorful water worlds, where life together is at the center of the stories (from 3 years);
  • Hola Frida, a musical and colorful animation by André Cady and Carine Vezina, focuses on the colorful childhood of the great artist Frida Kahlo, who became a figure of female emancipation. A true journey to Mexico in the 1920s, this film explores his experiences and sources of artistic inspiration (age 6);
  • Anatole’s Little Casserole, Eric Monchaux’s poignant short film adapted from Isabel Carrière’s literary work, takes us on a thrilling adventure where every obstacle becomes an opportunity to see the world differently. This film was chosen by a committee made up of several families from Bourg Saint Maurice as part of a partnership with the child-parent reception center “Le jardin des mômes” and La Ruchette (from 3 years)
  • La vie en gros, a feature film by Kristina Dufkova, adapted from the novel of the same name by Michael Olivier, with wonderful stop-motion puppets that tell the exciting story of a teenager in search of himself (from the age of 8);
  • Ollie, a dramatic comedy by Antoine Besse, with Theo Christin and Emmanuelle Bercot, about a young boy bullied at school who meets an outsider who takes him under his wing (from the age of 13);
  • Samia, a biographical film by Yasemin Shamderel, based on the true story of a young Somali athlete, Samia Yusuf Omar, who became a symbol in the fight for freedom and women’s rights around the world (from the age of 12);
  • Slocum et moi, an animated film by Jean-Francois Laguillon, tells how young François, with a tender and poetic look at his parents, begins his own adventure. An adventure that will lead him to the path of his passions and that will take him from childhood to adulthood (from 8 years old);
  • Guitar in the Sea, a program consisting of three short films, each with a different animation technique – 2D, pin screen or even stop motion – but whose stories revolve around beautiful tales of solidarity, sharing and openness to others (4 years old);
  • Lads, a feature film directed by Julien Menanteau, takes us into the ruthless world of rowdy jockeys. A drama with a galloping pace, where the pursuit of fame sometimes collides with moral values. This film was chosen by secondary school students enrolled in cinema (from 14 years) at the Bourg Saint Maurice school campus.
