Payne’s former partner, Cheryl Tweedywho was part of the group Girls Aloud. Payne and Cheryl’s 9-year-old son, Bearwere present at the ceremony, as were the singer’s parents, Karen AND Geoff Payneparents of the former One Direction singer.
Payne’s latest girlfriend, American influencer Kate Cassidy, was seen at church. Former One Direction bandmates, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik AND Niall Horan they said goodbye to their bandmate, who formed in 2010 during the musical reality show The X Factor.
Initially participating as solo contestants, the group was joined by singer Nicole Scherzinger and the producer Simon Cowell. Cowell was also photographed at Payne’s farewell this Wednesday, as was the comedian and presenter James Corden.
The funeral had been kept secret by the family, but some British media discovered the location of the ceremony. Dozens of fans went to the front of the church to greet the singer and stopped behind a security cordon.
Payne was found dead, aged 31, on October 16 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He fell from the third floor of the Hotel Casa Sur.
The musician’s body was transferred to the UK in early November.
