Lost: This cast of the series finds a “perfect” ending in every way

When it aired in 2010, Lost’s ending divided viewers as much as it convinced its haters that they did well to leave the series halfway through. However, one of the show’s actors, Michael Emerson, who played the complex Ben, recently defended body and soul the artistic choices made during this last double episode at the microphone. Radio Times :

“I think it’s a great conclusion.”

“I always say that every series dictates its ending based on its shape or the way the story is constructed. So a series like Lost can’t have the same ending as something more conventional or linear.”

“I loved shooting it, and even more so as time goes on, I think it’s a great conclusion.”

Recall that Emerson played Benjamin Linus, the leader of the Others, and that he spent much of the series manipulating everyone, from his belief in the island to his deep rejection of it, even allying himself with the strange and dangerous Black Smoke.

“Perfect and Sad”

We previously detailed the finale of Lost , and for Michael Emerson, bringing all the characters together in one place (in this case, a church) and playing the card of symbolism and allegory fits perfectly with the rest of the show:

“It was kind of a fantasy and an allegory exploding from a central point. So, in the end, it was about bringing all the pieces back to the center, I guess. At least, I think that’s what they were trying to do.

“For me it was really satisfying – especially if you’re playing Benjamin Linus and you’re standing outside the gate of the afterlife on a cold stone bench because you haven’t got it yet. I thought, ‘This is great’. And also sad, in a way.”

“Again, the piece represented the social end of the family. All my friends from the cast get together to go to some golden paradise, and I’m there to say goodbye to them as they leave. And that was the end. The end of all this golden adventure, except for the series.

And you, what are your memories of the end of Lost? Are you one of them satisfied or rather disappointed? And if you want to give the series a second chance, it’s currently available in its entirety on the Netflix platform.
