According to the Varietythe new episode – entitled Star Wars: New Jedi Order (OR New Jedi Orderin Portuguese) – would see the return of actress Daisy Ridley in the role of Rey. The character first appeared in the franchise in 2015, in the storyline of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

What do we already know about the Star Wars movie delay?

At the beginning of the year it was announced that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy would take on the role of director in the new feature film of the saga. Known by titles such as “Ms. Marvel”, the director and journalist would have worked based on a plot written by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”, “Maria Callas”), but the screenwriter abandoned the project in October this year.

Despite Knight’s departure and the delay, the film is still in development, as reported by The casing. The story is set 15 years after the events of “The Rise of Skywalker”, presumably following Rey’s efforts to create a new Jedi Order.

Fortunately, fans can take comfort in the fact that “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” the next feature film in George Lucas’ universe, has already started filming and is expected to arrive in May 2026. Additionally, Disney has kept one more film in the series on the list, which is scheduled to premiere on December 17, 2027.
