Inter beats Bragantino, remains unbeaten and climbs up the table

The goals were scored by Alan Patrick, Borré, Wesley and Wanderson.

Inter beat Bragantino, in Beira Rio, 4-1, are unbeaten in sixteen games and, with 65 points, take third place in the Brazilian championship. The goals were scored by Alan Patrick, Borré, Wesley and Wanderson.

Colorado’s great phase keeps the title dream alive. The more than 40,000 Coloradoans who witnessed Bragantino’s 4-1 defeat remained optimistic about the possibility of becoming Brazilian champions. The Gaucho team closed the gap between league leaders Palmeiras and Botafogo to five points, with nine up for grabs. To be in four, the Colorados must beat Flamengo, Botafogo and Fortaleza and hope that the teams from Sao Paulo score a maximum of three points, and those from Rio de Janeiro four, provided they make a difference of six goals.

Roger Machado had the return of Bruno Gomes, Bernabei and Fernando. He recommended playing on the edges of the pitch. In Colorado’s first possession of the ball, lateral attack. In the second the process was repeated. The goal came in the third.

Bernabei finds Wesley with space behind the defense. The attacker pounces on the left and crosses for Borré. The Colombian did not start the count only because he was knocked down by Juninho Capixaba. The game had just over a minute of ball rolling. Alan Patrick took the infringement with precision and made it 1-0.

With the lead, Inter controlled the match, but without being too incisive. An individual error put the result at risk. Rogel, at 18, almost scored. The back kick went close. From the corner, Juninho Capixaba equalises.

The Colorados press again. The lead was regained on the right side of the field. After a table between Wesley and Bruno Gomes, the full-back crossed for Borré, turning the ball over and making it 2-1.

The rest of the first half passed without great defensive suffering and without many dangerous actions in attack. The best came in injury time. Wesley stole the ball, invaded the area, evaded the defense, but went wide.

In the second half, when the shadow took over the pitch, the scoring opportunities disappeared. Here a dribble from Wesley appeared. A fine pass from Alan Patrick there. But nothing that can make the fans sigh.

Until, at 25, Alan Patrick played deep for Gabriel Carvalho. The fans stood up and pushed the boy towards the Bragantino area. Everyone kicked with him, but the momentum from 40 meters took away the power of the shot and the ball ended up in Cleiton’s hands.

Applauded, Borré leaves in the 27th minute for the applauded Valencia, in an attempt to return to the offensive charge. The response was immediate. On his first appearance, the Ecuadorian hit the post with his head. The fate of the ball was repeated moments later, in Wesley’s run down the left.

Then, in the 40th minute, Wesley widens from a corner to make it 3-1. Since there is little optimism, there is time for the fourth in the 42nd minute, after a play by Wesley and a touch by Gabriel Carvalho. All to strengthen the optimism of those who see in mathematics the hope of becoming a champion.
