Marissa Bode Reveals Incident While Filming ‘Wicked’: ‘It Was Epic’

The actress made her film debut as Nessarose

Marissa Bode revealed that he went through an incident during the recording of Wickeda film in which she played Nessarose, Elphaba’s younger sister.

In an interview with EntertainmentWeekly (via People), the 24-year-old actress said she fell out of her wheelchair while performing the dance number from “Dancing Through Life”, a scene in which she stars alongside Ethan Slaterinterpreter of Boq.

“I fell backwards one of the times. It was really epic,” he recalled. Goat. She confessed that she was “laughing so hard” while “everyone around me looked so worried.”

“When someone falls, it’s the scariest thing,” he argued. Slater. “But there was also something disconcerting about how much [Marissa] I was laughing as it happened. We thought, ‘That must mean it was ugly.'”

In the scene in question, Boq asks Nessarose to dance at a party in an attempt to impress Glinda, played by Ariana Grande and who the character is really in love with.

“It’s such a pivotal moment in the film when they form a friendship,” he said. Goat. “For Nessa, maybe it’s a little more than a friendship. But what’s established in that moment holds throughout the rest of the film.”

Slater added: “This is actually a big moment in [baile]…realizing that what he did by inviting her as a friend could have seemed like he was taking pity on her.”

“There’s a moment of realization: ‘Oh, actually, this isn’t the right way to treat people, and I didn’t mean to.’ There’s a genuine connection in that moment that I’m so grateful for. It’s a real bond that they form. It just means something different to each of them.”

Christopher Scottthe film’s choreographer, told Los Angeles Times (via People): “[O diretor] Jon [M. Chu] made it very clear from the beginning: this moment is about her feeling like she’s flying.”

“This is the happiest moment of her life. And she needs to feel like all the things she’s carried throughout her life, like we all carry, just disappear,” he added.
