A teaser inspired by the 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch by Dean W and Chris Saunders ( Dragons ) has just been released.
In this first preview, a small blue and evil alien lands on a beach in Hawaii, where there is a sand sculpture representing the famous Sleeping Beauty castle, which he enjoys destroying.
Directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp, known for the excellent Marcel the Shell (and his shoes), this new adaptation of Lilo & Stitch hits theaters on May 21, 2025.
The film follows the story of the original film: the exciting and funny story of a lonely little Hawaiian girl and an escaped alien. Hunted by galactic authorities, Stitch must learn to control his destructive nature while discovering the value of ohana (family).
Young Lilo is played by little Maya Kealoha, whose first film experience is this, and co-director of the original film and Wild Robot, Chris Sanderswill return to voice Stitch as he did in the 2002 film.
Stitch won’t be the only CGI animated character: he’ll be joined by famous aliens Jumba and Plick, voiced by Zach Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen, respectively.
The project was slated to release a feature film on the Disney+ streaming platform from 2018, before the studio decided on a theatrical release.
In anticipation of the release of Lilo & Stitch, three more Disney productions are coming to theaters: Moana 2 from this Wednesday, November 27, Mufasa, the prequel to The Lion King, which will be discovered and the live-action version from December 18. Snow White since March 19.
