Available on Salto for a few months now, Superman & Lois, hosted by Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) and Elizabeth Tulloch (Grimm), has finally aired every Tuesday at 9.10pm on TF1 since last week.
The CW’s superhero drama got off to a good start, striking a chord with female audiences at the start of a sweltering summer as the first episodes averaged 2.49 million viewers for a 29.8% market share. The commercial target of women buying managers under 50 (FRDA-50), which allowed it to be the leader in this crucial indicator on the front page.
As Superman & Lois continues tonight with three new episodes, TF1 viewers may be wondering where the new adventures of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, who are now the happy parents of teenagers, are in this highly successful reimagining of Superman’s exploits.
Obviously, the series is set in Smallville, a fictional town well known to fans of the DC Comics universe, as it’s where Clark Kent grew up. But the Superman and Lois episodes were not filmed in Kansas, the US state where Lana, Clark and Lex Luthor are supposed to be.
The blockbuster, developed by Greg Berlanti and Todd Helbing and directed by Tyler Hoechlin, is actually shooting in Canada from 2020, more specifically in British Columbia, Vancouver and Surrey.
Filming far from Los Angeles, or the Kents’ native Kansas, which may seem surprising, but which is explained by the fact that for financial reasons, most of the CW series produced by Warner Bros. Television, such as The Flash, Riverdale, or even Arrow and Supernatural at the time, Filmed in the Vancouver area.
For two seasons, American viewers of Superman and Lois have seen nothing but fire. And that’s a good thing, because Season 3, still filming in Canada, is on its way.
