Ninja Turtles: 34 years later, 54 minutes into the movie, this detail could ruin your childhood!

If you’re a child of the 1990s, you’re probably a huge fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy! In the tradition of the iconic animated series The Knights of Scales, these 3 films have delighted action-seeking cherubs.

Before we became computer-generated creatures in two feature films in 2014 and 2016, our beloved mutant turtles were played by flesh-and-blood actors under the costume! Thus, Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello were played by Josh Pais, David Forman, Michelan Sist and Leif Tilden.

If today the acrobatics of the turtles in their costumes may seem relatively old-fashioned, then the children that we were were fascinated by the fights and choreographies of our reptile friends.

Kovabunga!

Plus, there was everything that makes the saga so exciting, from the villainous Shredder to the villainous Casey Jones and the Turtles’ best friend, journalist April O’Neill. Of course, Splinter, the giant rat and adoptive father of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, also graced us with his presence. A pure product of the 90s, the trilogy made a strong impact on people’s minds.

However, only the first film really knew how to travel through time, with the sequels being more anecdotal and less well put together. That’s fine, it’s the detail of the first opus that interests us. You might have a worn VHS or DVD of a feature film without ever realizing it!

If you have the work in physical form at home, pause the image at 54 minutes and 36 seconds. In the scene in question, Donatello and April O’Neill are rejoicing at the return to form of Raphael, who was defeated several sequences earlier during a battle with the dreaded Foot Clan.

Kodak moment!

In the shot, from a slightly lower angle, we see a reporter and a purple hooded turtle laughing out loud. Donatello does not hesitate to laugh with his mouth open. If you look closely inside the latter, you can clearly see actor Leif Tilden inside the suit.

His teeth are especially noticeable, giving the shot a disturbing aspect when you press pause and focus on them. Otherwise, the turtle’s movement is so fast that you won’t be able to see the inside of its mouth at real speed. This little detail, which our friends Michelle and Michelle from Faux Raccord wouldn’t deny, is especially fun.

We hope this didn’t ruin your childhood and you continue to believe that these turtles really are mutants! Otherwise, you can always see the animated side with the latest movie in theaters featuring tetrapod adults! Titled Teenage Years, it hit theaters in August 2023 and drew more than 600,000 fans in France.
