What did you think of seeing him in the movie?
Below are spoilers for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
‘Ted Lasso’ star Brett Goldstein has spoken for the first time about his surprise appearance in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
The actor who gives life to Roy Kent appeared in one of the two post-credits scenes of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, revealing himself as Hercules, with his father Zeus (Russell Crowe) sending him on a mission of revenge against the God of Thunder.
Speaking to Variety about keeping the look under wraps, the star said: “I didn’t say anything to anyone because Marvel put a chip on my neck that said, ‘If you talk about this, you’re dead’“.
“I texted my mom and dad and said, ‘I just saw Thor.’ I knew it’s not the kind of movie you guys would see. He was like, ‘You guys should go see it. It’s fun.'”
He continued, “My mom is texting me throughout the movie giving me continuous feedback. I was like, ‘You just watch the movie!’ It gets to the end where it shows Russell Crowe… My mom sends me a text message that says, ‘Russell Crowe is at it again, he’s so funny.’ I’m like, ‘Damn, look at the screen!'”
‘Ted Lasso’ co-star Hannah Waddingham further revealed that Goldstein turned to her for advice when she was offered the role.
“He said, ‘I’ve been offered this… Do you think I should do it?’ I said, ‘Are you crazy? Are you really having doubts? Are you seriously thinking that you couldn’t play Hercules?’… But he didn’t tell me that he finally did! Everybody was like, ‘That’s Brett Goldstein, Brett Goldstein!’ And I thought ‘Damn bastard’“.
As for his potential future in the MCU, Goldstein admitted: “Really, honestly, it’s not me who lies or doesn’t say anything out of shame, I don’t know anything. All I know is what I did that day and that’s it. That could be it. It was three funny seconds“.
The fourth installment of Thor is now in theaters. In it, the God of Thunder embarks on a journey unlike anything he has faced before: a search for inner peace. But that retreat is interrupted by a galactic assassin known as Gorr the Butcher of Gods, played by Christian Bale, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To deal with the threat, Thor requests the help of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and, to his surprise, his ex, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) appears, who also inexplicably wields her magical hammer, Mjolnir, like the Mighty Thor. Together they embark on a cosmic adventure to stop the Butcher of Gods before it’s too late.
