Burton will be attending the Lumiere Festival in Lyon, France, October 20-23 and will receive his gong on Friday, October 21.
The American director joins previous Lumière Award winners such as Jane Campion, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Von Kar-Wye and Quentin Tarantino.
Opening the Barton Awards on Wednesday, the Lumer festival called him “an artist who has given world cinema a world of rare coherence with unprecedented influence on popular culture.”
