The club owed around R$4 million to Balbuena, for image rights payments during his second spell at Corinthians.
The big problem Corinthians found themselves in in October is over. FIFA had imposed a serious punishment on the Brazilian club, called a transfer ban, in which Timão could not sign players in the January transfer window due to the debt to Fábian Balbuena.
The club owed around R$4 million to Balbuena, for image rights payments in his second spell at Corinthians, between 2022 and 2023, when he went on loan from Dinamo Moscow, Russia, for one year.
The defender went to court demanding payment and FIFA slapped the club with a transfer ban. But on Friday (29th) the club reached an agreement between the parties involved and paid part of the debt and in the next few days it should be released by the body in order to make new purchases in 2025.
In a note the club informed about the debt settlement:
Sport Club Corinthians Paulista informs that, through its legal and financial departments, it has fulfilled all obligations with defender Fabian Balbuena, who had his second spell at the Club in 2023.
With this, the FIFA Disciplinary Commission has put an end to the transfer ban imposed on the Club, which can now regularly register new players.
