The disconnection of the water network will cause shortages and changes in traffic in Porto Alegre

Nine neighborhoods are expected to remain without water due to the service provided by the DMAE

The Public Transport and Circulation Company (EPTC) informs that Avenida Senador Tarso Dutra, one of the streets that make up the Third Perimetral, will undergo a change in traffic starting from 7 am this Monday 2nd. The change is due to the last stage of the junction between two pipelines of the Municipal Water and Sewerage Department (DMAE).

The bus lane on the street, located on the corner of Engenheiro Antônio Carlos Tibiriçá Street, will be completely blocked in both directions. In this way the buses will circulate along the side lanes between Avenida Protásio Alves and Rua Felizardo, with stops parallel to their original position.

Traffic in the region is expected to return to normal on Thursday 5th. Due to the service, a water supply interruption is expected in nine neighborhoods on Tuesday 3rd. I am:

  • Boa Vista (part),
  • Good Jesus,
  • Chacara das Pedras,
  • Higienópolis (part),
  • Botanical Garden (part),
  • Salso Garden,
  • Petrópolis (part),
  • Tre Figueira and
  • Vila Jardim (part).

Work

The junction between the two 600mm water pipes is part of the interconnection of the Menino Deus and Moinhos de Vento water supply systems. The first phase of the service was carried out last Wednesday 27th. The aim is to minimize supply fluctuations in the upper part of Porto Alegre.

At the end of the interventions the systems will be able to feed each other if necessary. The beneficiary areas include parts of Lomba do Pinheiro and Morro da Cruz, as well as other regions in the North and East. The investment is R$5.2 million, with DMAE’s own resources.
