With the Family on Netflix: A smart movie from 4 years ago, this movie will transport you to the stars

There’s nothing like a good movie to spend time with your family! And that’s exactly what Trip to the Moon offers, telling the story of young Fei Fei, who decides to travel to the moon with her humble rabbit to prove that a childhood legend that her widowed father no longer believes is true.

This is the first feature film from John Carrey (2013 Oscar winner for the short film Paperman) and Glen Keane (Oscar winner for the short film Dear Basketball). A Trip to the Moon will be nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2021, but will lose to Soul from Pixar Studios.

What will they like?

• Even if the image comes from a Chinese culture that they might find exotic, young French viewers will see nothing but fire and be swept up in Fei Fei’s incredible adventure.
• The songs are contemporary and speak to today’s kids.
• Cabriolet, the cutest little bunny in the history of animated bunnies.
• Fei Fei isn’t afraid of anything, and if she’s a little mean to her half-brother at first, it’s all right (and she doesn’t suffer).

What could be bothering them?

• Fei Fei’s mother is kind, gentle and caring, but she dies quite early in the film and we feel the sadness of the little girl.
• In its final part, the film becomes a bit dreamlike, which may be difficult for youngsters. Adults may need a little explaining.
