World War II, paratroopers and a high-risk mission… No, this is not La Grande Vadrouille, but a much darker, explosive and above all spectacular war film.
Want another TV tip tonight? We recommend this very well-crafted legal thriller starring Pierre Nin and Gilles Lelouch
Released in theaters in 1969, three years after Gerard Urry’s seminal comedy, Brian G. Hutton’s (to whom we owe gold for Brave) When Eagles Strike is a war film that combines several genres: action, adventure, and espionage.
During 1944, Allied soldiers under the command of British officer Jonathan Smith parachuted into southern Germany. Not far from the fortress where the Gestapo headquarters are located, they must free and expel an American general. Unfortunately, Smith quickly realizes, after discovering the corpse of one of his men, that a traitor has infiltrated the group…
Who are these eagles attacking? The irreplaceable Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton, not forgetting several actors in soldier’s uniform. A duo that works brilliantly and that we could have seen more often on screen.
Get out the cowboy hat, hello Cap
in the movie When eagles attack, Clint Eastwood and Richard Barton Most of the time is spent killing a whole bunch of Nazis with knives or guns, which makes for some spectacular sequences. We obviously think of the amazing fight scene on the roof of the cable car, or the numerous zigzags of the autopilot on the mountain roads.
And as if one were needed, this feature film is proof of that Clint Eastwood It’s as monumental in Westerns as it is in war movies. We’re also thinking about Warmaster, directed and played on screen by Eastwood himself.
One thing’s for sure, audiences loved watching the two huge actors play off each other, as evidenced by these few comments posted on AlloCiné: “The Burton / Eastwood tandem is luxurious and exciting”, “One of the best war movies with a famous duo Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood which works perfectly”or “The script is attractive, the rhythm is intense and never weakens, the stunts are not lacking in interest and the duet. Richard Burton / Clint Eastwood It’s impressive.”
Tonight on Arte at 21:00.
