In the German championship and in the Champions League, Bayern is going through a better moment. They lead the Bundesliga with 30 points, compared to Leverkusen’s 23. But in the Champions League, Leverkusen, the reigning German champion, is in the qualifying zone for the round of 16, in sixth place, with 10 points. The Bavarians, with 9 points, are only 13th (therefore they are in the play-off zone).

Where to look

ESPN 4 and Disney+ channels broadcast from 4.45pm (Brasilia time).

How is Bayern doing?

Coach Vincent Kompany will have an important absence for this match. Striker Kane has a right hamstring injury and will therefore be rested from the duel. In his place comes veteran Thomas Müller, the most capped player in Bayern’s history. Gnabry should remain on the bench for Olise’s arrival, and Goretzka remains among the starters.

How is Leverkusen?

Leverkusen will also have to do without their main striker. Bonifacio feels a muscle injury. The coach will therefore create a scheme with only one attacker, the Czech Schick, with the attacking midfielder Wirtz a little further back. But Frimpong, who was doubtful, will play. Coach Xabi Alonso will use three defenders for this duel.
