Vanderlei Luxemburgo reveals on two occasions the reasons for not agreeing with Santos

Santos have tried to sign Vanderlei Luxemburgo on two occasions in recent years. In fact, in 2022, president Andrés Rueda negotiated with the coach and almost agreed on the hiring, but irritation over the information leak forced the coach to back down.

This Monday (02), in an interview during his participation in the 1st Football and Finance Congress, in Santos, Luxemburgo explained and explained why he gave up coaching Peixe a year before their relegation to Serie B, which occurred in 2023 .

“I met him, then the news leaked and he said it was Olivério Júnior (Luxembourg’s press officer at the time). I said: ‘You’re wrong. It was you or it was me, but it wasn’t me. .So, you were the one who leaked the news,'” Luxa said.

“He went to a management committee meeting and said he had talked to me. So he was the one who leaked the news. And that’s why he lost me. How do I work with a guy who comes to me and he says you may not trust me because I leaked the news, but it was just me and him and I didn’t leak it.”, added the coach.

Luxembourg, in fact, has been free on the market since he left Corinthians in September 2023 and is evaluating what he will do for next season. However, he also talked about not going to Peixe during this year’s Série B.

“When I go to a club, all these questions go from being light to being a beating, just a fight, this is the truth, because I too am not someone who flatters anyone and I would bring an enormous burden to Santos, who had to be calm down to go up to the first division, do the job, sometimes instead of helping he gets in the way”, concluded Luxemburgo.
