The weeks follow each other and are similar in Yellowstone. Since the series was renewed on November 11, the Western series has had a series of notable deaths. After John Dutton, then Sarah Atwood last week, the program’s iconic character also died in a new episode of Season 5.
What is the future of the ranch?
The ranch’s future is bleak, and in order to avoid selling the land, Rip has no choice but to give up Yellowstone’s cattle and horses. The death of John Dutton also has cowboys thinking: some are thinking of leaving, while others think that the change of ownership will have no effect on their activities.
Over the course of several episodes, the Yellowstone cowboys split into two teams, then a team squad, to bring cattle to Ranch 6666. A few trusted men on site run the ranch, notably Lloyd and Colby.
The latter has had an affair with Teeter (he’s on the Texas team) for several seasons, but they’ve always had a hard time taking their romance public.
During a phone exchange, Colby declares his love for Teeter, and she is quick to express her feelings. Unfortunately, this will be their last conversation.
A death worthy of a true cowboy
A little later in the episode, Carter cleans the stables in Yellowstone. A horse of strong character is in his stall, but his water basin has been knocked over. Despite instructions to avoid caring for the animal alone, Carter decides to refill the water. But the young boy soon finds himself trapped by a horse.
Colby hears Carter’s cries of distress and tries to help her. The boy manages to escape, but not the cowboy, who takes a hoof kick to the chest. Carter grabs his gun to shoot the horse, but unfortunately not soon enough to save Colby’s life. The latter’s death is celebrated by Rip and Lloyd and sends Yellowstone into a new painful mourning.
