The trans singer confirmed her favoritism and even surpassed Anitta, who took home two prizes
Master champion
On Tuesday evening (12/4), the 31st edition of the Multishow Awards recognized singer Liniker as one of the best Brazilian artists of the last year. The trans artist won four relevant awards and even surpassed singer Anitta, the biggest winner of the event who only won two trophies.
This year, Liniker won four of the 11 awards for which the Caju project competed, including eye-opening categories like Cover of the Year and Artist of the Year. On stage, the trans singer spoke tearfully about “the possibility of being heard in the reality of a country that silences and gags so many people.” The star also gave a chilling performance of “Caju” and “Veludo Marrom.”
The presence of Anitta
Anitta was the center of attention from the moment she entered the awards ceremony, causing a stir among fans who sat in the audience as Kenya Sade hosted the event live. Poderosa won awards for Funk of the Year for “Joga Pra Lua” and TVZ Clip of the Year for “Mil Veces”. She took to the stage to the sound of “damn, she’s the best singer in Brazil.”
The Brazilian funkstar was also awarded the unprecedented Vanguarda Trophy, which recognized his musical innovations and ability to mix different styles, such as Rio funk, reggaeton and electronic music. To celebrate, he performed a medley of “Looking for Love”, “São Paulo”, “Loose Ya Breath”, “Savage Funk” and “Menina Má”.
