ESA mission launch delayed due to mechanical problem

The company said the unforeseen issues will be “resolved shortly”

Arianespace, the company that manages launches for the European Space Agency (ESA), has postponed the launch of Vega C with the European Sentinel-1C satellite until next Thursday (5).

According to Stephan Israel, the company’s CEO, the decision was made due to a mechanical problem in the mobile gantry, a structure that must be removed before launch to free the rocket.

“Due to a mechanical problem it was not possible to move the structure, which will have to be removed approximately three hours before launch,” he analyzed.

Again according to Israel the unexpected event is a “minor problem” that will be “resolved shortly”. Furthermore, the rocket and satellite “are in perfect condition.”

Sentinel-1C is the last of the planet’s sentinels that make up the Copernicus space segment, the European Commission and ESA program designed to monitor the planet and develop useful services for citizens. .
