For some time now, biopics have been on the rise in France and Hollywood. While the list of the world’s best biopics is (very) long, there are some that continue to impress eighteen years after their theatrical release. This is Truman Capote.

Directed by Bennett Miller (who also credits The Strategist), this feature film follows the life of a bestselling author. cold bloodedPlayed on screen by the amazing and unrecognizable Philip Seymour Hoffman.

In November 1959, Truman Capote learned in the New York Times about the murder of four members of a Kansas farming family. This type of story is not uncommon, but it gets his attention. He convinces The New Yorker Magazine to send him there and crosses paths with his childhood friend Harper Lee (Katherine Keener).

Upon arrival, his singularity (gifted with a small and high-pitched voice) incurs the enmity of these unassuming people who still consider themselves part of the Old West, then he manages to gain their trust and, in particular, Alvin Dewey.
