The one and only scene on screen: At first, no one recognized this star in 21 Jump Street

Although cameos have long been a common practice in cinema, certain celebrity appearances leave a lasting impression on the public more than others. This was, for example, the case of Glenn Close, who is completely unrecognizable in a pirate suit in Hook, the case of an invisible Brad Pitt in Deadpool 2 or even Bill Murray in the movie Welcome to Zombieland.

Similarly, in 2012, more than 20 years after the original series from which it was adapted, a feature film from the 21 Jump Street double cameo anthology was released!

The return of Tom Hanson and Doug Penhall

In addition to Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill playing two young undercover cops in the movie, we had the pleasure of briefly meeting Johnny Depp and Peter DeLouise, aka Thomas Hanson and Douglas Penhall, the two heroes of Series 21. Jump Street.

What could make more sense to excite early fans than to return to the characters of their favorite show after two decades? This look, which we really expected, was not included in the feature film by accident.

The surprise is in the last minutes of the movie, at the end of the sequence where Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill find themselves in a very bad situation in front of the biker gang. Ever since the start of the scene, rather discreet, with long blonde hair and a bushy beard, one of the thugs stepped out of the group and pointed a gun at his “cliffs”.

Johnny Depp is unrecognizable!

After removing the wig, hairstyle and fake nose, he also revealed that he was an undercover cop, and not just any cop: Tom Hanson, aka Johnny Depp, the original hero of 21 Jump Street.

He’s soon joined by his co-worker Doug Penhall (Peter DeLouise), at the end of a hilarious scene in which we learn the two cops pushed their cover too far, only to be shot when things go wrong.

The result: a cameo that we almost expected to appear in a Phil Lord and Chris Miller film at any moment, but which has been left in the annals anyway.
