Internacional lost against Botafogo in the farewell at the Beira-Rio stadium, this Wednesday (04), in the penultimate round of the Brazilian championship. It was the first home defeat of the Rio Grande do Sul team under the leadership of Roger Machado.
In the press conference after the match, the coach highlighted Colorado’s competitiveness against the leader of the Brasileirão, who only need a draw to secure the 2024 title. He also thanked them for recognizing the results achieved since he took over the team, which was close to the relegation zone and will now conclude the championship with a direct place in the group stage of the Libertadores.
What we can say about the last few games, despite not being able to win, is that we have made a leap in competitiveness. I believe we will reap good results next year. I want to thank you for recognizing our work. We have to give it back with football,” said Roger Machado.
With this result, Internacional occupies fourth place in the Brasileirão, with 65 points, the same score as Fortaleza, which is in fifth place. The teams will face each other in Castelão, this Sunday (8), at 4pm (Brasilia time), in the last round of the championship.
