AlloCiné: Were you nervous after reprising the role of Summer? hunter king this year”young and restless“?
Alison Lanier: Yes, I was very nervous! Obviously, I really wanted to get this role, and at the same time, it’s not easy to tell someone. I tried to do it as best I could because I was in summer shoes. Hunter King did a great job and then I tried to own the character.
Were you afraid of the audience’s reaction to this substitution?
Yeah, but at the time I didn’t realize what I was getting myself into (laughs) Obviously, I knew The Young and the Restless had an incredible fan base, but I couldn’t measure it. The joy of some people!
I got positive comments, but also negative ones… The feedback was divided when people got used to it. At least I was well received for the most part. Lucky for me, our audience is the best! I love being with him.
Summer returns to Genoa City to find Kyle (Michael Meallor, who talks about the rest of the series). Finally, she meets her husband’s mother, Diane (Susan Walters)… how does your character position himself towards him?
Summer is very suspicious for Diane. Summer knows her past and is therefore very cautious. He is wary of Diane interfering in his life with Kyle…
If Kylie gives Diane a second chance, will Summer support her approach?
She wants to support him in whatever he decides, but above all he wants to protect his family. Samer is also very happy that despite everything, he returned to Genoa with his family. So there is a positive for him in this situation…
How will Summer deal with the conflict between Diane and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), own mother?
It’s going to be very difficult… (laughs) Summer is going to have a hard time navigating this mid-war.
Will Summer and Kyle leave Ashland (which also alternated actors with Robert Newman) Will you straighten Harrison’s shoulders?
Kyle and Summer try to be diplomatic in order to offer Harrison the best. They will judge that it is best for the child to see Ashland under supervision. But at some point they will determine if all of this is really healthy for the little guy… Controversy is expected!
How is your relationship with Michael Millor, who plays Kyle on The Young and the Restless?
(Laughs) We’ve been friends since I got on the show. He guided me from the beginning and helped me find the place. We have so much fun together, I can’t wait to share more stories with her!
