After Megalopolis, Coppola could make a musical with a strange atmosphere

2024 will mark, among other things, Francis Ford Coppola’s big return to cinema. The filmmaker was in competition at the Cannes Film Festival last May, and has since accompanied the release of his long-form project Megalopolis worldwide, especially in France. In France, Megalopolis gathered more than 250,000 spectators.

As we know, the Megalopolis project mobilized Francis Ford Coppola for almost 20 years. He invested a lot and put his own savings to make the project happen. But success did not coincide with high investments.

Despite everything, Francis Ford Coppola is already ready to return to the set. As we learn in The Washington PostHe already has two projects in front of him.

One of them is almost ready to start filming, in this case Moonlights. According to the American newspaper, the filmmaker will move to London after the Christmas holidays to start the project. Casting hasn’t been announced yet, but we do know that the film will have a quirky, 1930s-style vibe and will feature music.

A musical comedy in the tradition of Coup de coeur

It is an adaptation of Edith Wharton’s book of the same name. This book was already inspired by Leo McCurry’s film The Holy Truth. Moonlight is expected to include dance and music sequences reminiscent of one of Coppola’s previous films, Coup de coeur.

After Sparks of the Heart, Francis Ford Coppola can continue with a major project called Distant Vision.
