American independent studio Bleecker Street has released the poster and trailer for “Breaking”, a drama starring John Boyega (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”).

In the film, he plays a war veteran who faces mental and emotional challenges as he tries to reintegrate into civilian life, but is denied military benefits as he seeks treatment. Desperate and penniless, he decides to draw attention to his plight and that of many other veterans with a major robbery by taking hostages in a bank branch. His goal is not to rob the bank, but to attract the media to celebrate his protest. But the police reaction is energetic, in an armed siege that could prove lethal.

The plot written and directed by director Abi Damaris Corbin (“Anonymous Actors”) is based on a real case and has been compared to the classic “A Dog’s Day Afternoon” (1975).

Williams (“Lovecraft Country”), who died last year, as the police negotiator he tries to convince.
