The case of the photographer from Minas Gerais Flavio de Castro Sousamissing since the end of November, he has mobilized family, friends and authorities, both in Brazil and France. The circumstances of his disappearance, which occurred shortly after an accident on Swan Island, on the Seine, are not yet clear.
Flávio, who had finished a job in Paris and was about to return to Brazil, said in messages exchanged with the French fashion student Alessandro Callet who fell into the Seine and was rescued three hours later by firefighters, with suspected hypothermia. His return to Brazil was scheduled for the same day as the accident, November 26.
Last contact with the photographer
Alexandre Callet was the last person to have contact with Flávio. The Brazilian, after being treated in hospital, revealed that he was lucky to be alive, mentioning that he had drunk too much on the day of the accident. Although he was discharged a few hours later, Flávio had difficulty finding a place to stay, as his belongings were in a rented apartment. He eventually negotiated with the real estate agency to get a new location.
Despite being exhausted and having communicated with Alex, Flávio no longer responded from the next day. “I started to find everything very strange. I went back to the rented apartment, tried to enter the password for the digital lock, but it didn’t work. Then I called the real estate agency and they said: ‘Look, we don’t I know where he is. But Flávio’s cell phone was answered by a man who works in a restaurant. I panicked and went straight to the police station,” reported in an interview with Fantástico.
After Flávio’s disappearance, his cell phone was found by an employee of a restaurant near Sena, increasing the concern of his friends. Alex then searched Lucien AND Raphaelfriends of Flavio. The group defends access to security cameras in Paris, one of the most monitored cities in the world, to follow Flávio’s last steps.
What will be the next steps in Flávio’s research?
The authorities continue their investigations and cooperation between the Brazilian consulate and the French police is crucial to determining Flávio’s whereabouts. Interpol has already issued a global alert for 196 countries. The search for surveillance cameras in the area of the accident and the recovery of the cell phone are an essential part of the ongoing investigation.
