The new comedy will hit theaters on July 22.
‘A boyfriend for my wife’, the new comedy fromLaura Manaarrives exclusively in theaters next July 22, distributed by Universal Pictures International Spain.
The film stars Belen Cuesta, Diego Martin Y Hugo Silva beside Joaquin Reyes, Eric Masip and Angela Cervantes, and the script is co-written by the director herself along with Pol Cortecans (‘Welcome to the family’; ‘I know who you are’).
After premiering ‘I love you, idiot’ in 2020, the director presents this new story which is a remake of an Argentine film released in 2008. In it, Diego (Martín) wants to separate from his wife, Lucía (Cuesta), but he doesn’t know how to tell her. He is fed up with her neuroses and constant complaints about him, and he has long since lost the spark that made him fall in love. Unable to say it to her face, he turns to Cuervo Flores, theoretically a famous seducer “from before”, who will try to make Lucía fall in love so that she will be the one to end her marriage.
In this clip that we present to you, Diego’s character has doubts about how to tell his wife that he wants a separation. Next to him is Carlos (played by Joaquín Reyes), one of those friends who always has advice to give. While poor Diego confesses to his colleague his insecurity because he doesn’t dare to take that step and how to propose a divorce to Lucía, Carlos tries to explain to him that things are simpler than they seem. Because there are always solutions for everything, there is an easier way to achieve the goal you want. We do not know if Diego thinks the same as the pragmatic Carlos.
The film ‘A boyfriend for my wife’ is a production of Arcadia Motion Pictures and Athos Pictures with the participation of Prime Video. The comedy is funded by the ICAA and supported by the ICEC. Universal Pictures International Spain is in charge of its exclusive release in cinemas in Spain, and after passing through theaters, it will be released on Prime Video.
Mañá has been working as a director since the film ‘Sex for compassion’ premiered in 2000, which was the winner of the Malaga festival for Best Film and Audience Award. Later she has directed films such as ‘Palabras chainadas’, or the television movie ‘Clara Campoamor. The forgotten woman’.
Diego Martin is known for series like ‘There is no one alive here’, ‘Velvet’ or lately he has joined the cast of ‘Elite’. In cinemas we have seen him in ‘If I were rich’ or ‘Sin rodeos’. She costs has participated in ‘Ocho surnames catalanes’, ‘Until the wedding separates us’ or ‘The infinite trench’, for which she won the Goya for Best Actress.
