The Tricolore could go on the market to sign a midfielder

Midfielder Oscar, 33, who has played for Shanghai Port in China in recent years, has had his name linked to San Paolo in recent days. However, according to journalist André Plihal, from ESPN, the athlete has no desire to return to Brazil in 2025.

Due to personal problems, the midfielder has chosen to remain abroad next season too. From what the journalist has ascertained, it emerges that, for the player, at this moment it is important not to give news of his possible return to Brazilian football, even if Oscar has affection for San Paolo. The athlete, who has been working outside the country for 12 years, admitted having spoken to Tricolor.

Unveiled by the Morumbis team, the player moved to Internacional in 2010. After two years, he was sold by the Rio Grande do Sul club to Chelsea, from England. There he remained for four seasons and, in 2017, he was signed by Chinese team Shanghai Port.

São Paulo manager Luís Zubeldía revealed that the club had spoken to Oscar and that he himself had contacted the player.

“We spoke with Oscar and another player. There are issues that we have to negotiate with the player, but we have already spoken with two players who I think are important for the team,” Zubeldía said in a press conference after the 2-1. defeat against Botafogo, last Sunday (08), in the last round of the Brasileirão.

One of the club’s needs is the presence of a midfielder with more ability to create and organize the game. San Paolo should go on the market looking for an athlete with these characteristics. Left back Wendell, who played for Porto-POR in the last European season, and midfielder Thiago Mendes, from Al Rayyan-QAT, are other names in the Tricolor’s sights for 2025.
