A man is shot and dies after attacking police officers in Farroupilha


An individual involved in an outbreak attacked officers with a knife; The attempt to immobilize him with an electric weapon was of no avail.

A 61-year-old man died on Tuesday night (10), after being shot by military police in Farroupilha, in the Alvorada neighborhood. The accident occurred around 10.30pm, during a joint service between the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) and the Military Brigade.

Police intervention after the epidemic

According to the 36th battalion of the military brigade, the team was called to Samu’s aid, due to a call involving an epidemic man carrying a knife. During the approach, the individual ignored police orders and assaulted the officers.

Despite the first attempt at immobilization with an electrically conductive weapon (Spark), the measure proved ineffective. Faced with the situation, the police fired to contain the man’s advance. He was rescued and taken to São Carlos Hospital, but did not survive his injuries.

The case will be investigated to ascertain the circumstances of the incident and the measures adopted by the garrison.
