to remember

as expected Moana 2 Destroyed the French box office upon its release, shortly before breaking records in the United States. And, unsurprisingly, Disney’s Christmas 2024 continues to dominate theaters with a cumulative total that already stands at more than 4 million viewers. Which makes it our seventh biggest hit of the year, ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine, but behind Dune 2.

It reached the position in two weeks, and the end-of-year holidays will allow it to continue its hegemony and replace the first opus’s 5,673,236. Or at least tickle (if not exceed) the scores of Vice Versa 2, The Count of Monte Cristo and a little something extra. If this continues, the feature film will be at the foot of the podium next Tuesday night, ahead love fu which can still reach the 5 million mark.

Behind Wayana 2, we find the musical dolphin. But not what we thought. Because evil had to give up with fanfareThe positive word of which is confirmed: Emmanuel Kurkol’s film lost only 23% of the reception between the first and second week (compared to 32% for the feature film at the Disney studio), and the question is no longer whether it will make it or not. A million, but when. And it will probably be at the end of the weekend.

Then the third step on the podium was decided between two new products. And Wicked wins. With a score that’s slightly disappointing compared to its feat in the US (and while Wonka, who plays on one table, was twice as much for his 2023 debut), and encouraging because it’s a musical comedy. Inspired here is much less well known.

Not to mention that word of mouth and parties could give him a boost. as well as Conclave. Less for the celebratory aspect than the fact that Edward Berger’s religious thriller seems to be generating genuine interest among audiences, as evidenced by its very good average viewers per copy (612), the best since Moana 2 .

There is a film ahead that is competing for six Golden Globes Gladiator IIwhich continues the way and After them their childrenWhich was disappointing to begin with given the potential of the Nicholas Matthews book for two million readers from which it was adapted. In one week, it’s doing little more than L’Amour ouf, another long-running 90s love story to which it’s being compared, but which has been in theaters for almost two months.

However, directors Ludovic and Zoran Bucherma achieved their biggest success to date, ahead of the Year of the Shark. And, again, the holidays can help them think bigger at the box office.

In the rest of the ranking, Juror #2 It became the eighth biggest success of Clint Eastwood’s directorial career in France as his latest feature beat J. Edgar, The Exchange and Madison Avenue in a matter of days. Will it be able to match The Mule’s 1,860,358, or even Beyond’s 1,905,487? Judgment soon.
