Patrick Dempsey, world famous for his role as Dr. Mamur on Grey’s Anatomy, completely changes the register. In Dexter: Original Sin, the actor plays Captain Aaron Spencer, a (tough-looking) cop from the Miami Metropolitan Police Department. But what catches the eye is his makeover for the occasion: a well-defined mustache that perfectly matches the 90s in which the series is set.
Go back to Dexter’s beginnings
The series, a prequel to the cult hit Dexter, immersed viewers in 1991 Miami. Patrick Gibson plays young Dexter Morgan, a criminology student and Miami Metro Police trainee. Under the tutelage of his adoptive father, Harry Morgan (played by Christian Slater), Dexter discovers how to channel his murderous impulses while maintaining a strict moral code.
And we can already guess that Captain Spencer is not here to joke, and even if Dexter’s father is very popular in the police department, it will not be easy for the novice killer. He must find a way to improve his profession – he arrives as an intern – and make his two passions work without getting caught. We all know the ending, but now it’s time to see how it all began.

A series not to be missed
The Dexter: Original Sin teaser previewed at the Comic Con Experience (CCXP) in São Paolo did not elicit a reaction. In addition to Patrick Dempsey, the series reunites Sarah Michelle Gellar and familiar faces such as James Martinez and Alex Shimizu in this new role. All told in the inimitable voice of Michael C. Hall, for early fans.
While the series airs this month on Paramount+ in the US, you’ll have to wait until next year to discover it on Canal+!
