According to the investigating officer, the victim had requested an urgent protective measure following the arrest of the attacker.
Civil Police officers arrested, on Wednesday afternoon (11), a 20-year-old young man, suspected of having attacked and attempted to asphyxiate his ex-girlfriend, a 16-year-old teenager. The accident occurred in the Agronomy district, in the eastern area of Porto Alegre.
According to the victim’s testimony, the relationship lasted about a year and ended just two days before the attack. The accused denied the charges during interrogation but remains in custody.
The testimonies of the teenager and witnesses indicate that this was not the first incident of violence. There are no official records of previous incidents, however reports indicate that the victim had already been physically assaulted on other occasions.
The young man has a criminal record for drug possession, which further complicates his situation. Delegate Fernanda Campos, in charge of the case, said the teenager requested an urgent protective measure after the attacker’s arrest, with the aim of ensuring his protection.
