Season 2 of Doc, the successful medical series hosted by Luca Argentero, ends tonight on TF1 after two emotionally charged episodes. Under the banner of Covid, this new outbreak of episodes has internal medicine doctors managing the consequences of the pandemic, both physical and moral.
And like Dr. House, Andrea Fant and her team have to deal with new medical cases every week, each one more unique than the next.
If we may sometimes doubt the veracity of some of these cases, Pierdante Piccioni, the doctor whose incredible story inspired the series, confirmed to us in an interview during the Seria Mania festival that they are all true.
“I have not met all of them personally“, so he explained”These are the cases we have collected from all over Italy. The rule we set for ourselves when writing the scripts is that they should always be true stories, but then we can dramatize certain elements.“
In parallel with the doctor’s career, Pierdante Piccioni is indeed part of the screenwriting team, which allows him to inject some truth into Doc. And if he mainly works on the medical aspect of the scripts by bringing his experience, he also has his say on the fictional or dramatized parts of the script, as he told us during our meeting.
Moreover, to be fair, the writers chose to kill off one of Doc’s iconic characters in the first episode of this season 2. The doctor really wanted to show that the Covid epidemic was still well and truly present at the time of payment. Honor the members of the medical staff who have lost their lives while caring for patients with the disease.
