The word tokusatsu means “special effects film” in Japanese and is used to describe live-action films and series that make heavy use of this technique. This form of entertainment is one of the most popular in Japan.
In Brazil, the tokusatsu they began appearing in theaters in the 1950s and reached television in the 1960s. However, the peak of popularity was during the 80s and 90s, with the series shown by Rede Manchete.
