Unlike movies that prefer to hide the slightest information about their plot from the public (as happens, for example, with the works of Christopher Nolan), others sometimes have fun, giving us a few hints from the beginning.

This is how, by looking at them a little more closely and putting them into perspective, we can see that certain feature film titles contain valuable information about their outcome.

Who are the “bad guys”?

This is especially true of one of the greatest French thriller classics: Les Diaboliques, directed by the legendary Henri-Georges Clouzot in 1955. Mysterious at first glance and misleading at second glance, this apparently incomprehensible title hides a real irony. A movie we recommend you watch before you do, if you haven’t already.

  • Jonny Halliday, then 12 years old, took his first steps on the screen in a Clouseau film. did you know him

But who are these famous “devils”? At first, we don’t see who it might be at all. Perhaps Christina and Nicole Horner are the wife and mistress, respectively, of the school’s principal, Michelle DeLaSalle, who together plan to kill the latter.

Clouseau’s terrible irony

But things are far from that simple, obviously. After the murder is “successful” and the husband “drowned”, the situation quickly becomes complicated when the corpse mysteriously disappears and several increasingly curious events terrorize Christina.

The tension reaches its peak when a young woman sees her husband’s “corpse” come to life, emerges from the bath fully clothed, and dies of a heart attack. When Nicole shows up and hugs Michelle, we immediately know who the real “bad guys” are.

From the very beginning, the director and his lover actually concocted this cruel scenario, intended to scare Christina, help her overcome her heart problems, and at the same time get back the school she owned.

Fortunately, the two “devils” got mixed up after their misdeeds and were arrested by the inspector who was investigating the case.

Guess which characters the movie’s title refers to?
