Coming soon to the cinema in Love in the Present alongside Florence Pugh, Andrew Garfield will also soon be in one of Luca Guadagnino’s new films.
The British actor, who made a triumphant return to the Spider-Man costume in Spider-Man: No Way Home, was to work with another famous director.
He’s actually been announced in the casting for Guillermo del Toro’s next feature, continuing his collaboration with Netflix after The Cabinet of Curiosities and Pinocchio, his first animated film.
The director, screenwriter, novelist and producer of Mexican cinema, specializing in the genre, horror and weirdness, is working on a new version of the famous Frankenstein, the mad scientist monster imagined by Mary Shelley.
And it was Andrew Garfield who had to play the famous creature. But the actor had to leave the project after a conflict of interest following the actors’ and writers’ strike in Hollywood. In the end, it was Jacob Ellord who was cast in the role of the monster at short notice.
Andrew Garfield is happy to have paved the way for Jacob Ellord
Revealed in The Kissing Booth trilogy (which he denies today), so he returns to Netflix with this Frankenstein film. The actor has been directing independent and quality projects for several years, such as Sam Levinson’s Euphoria series and Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn or Paul Schrader’s Oh, Canada.
Suffice it to say that Jacob Ellord is one of Hollywood’s rising stars with ambitious projects. And so Andrew Garfield is happy that the young man replaced him.
At least that’s how he explained it term. The former Spider-Man had a chance to talk to Jacob Ellord about Frankenstein during the Marrakech Film Festival, where both were juries:
“I’m very, very happy that he’s the one to do it, and of course I’m disappointed that I didn’t get to do it because I love Guillermo, I love Oscar and everyone he’s brought together. But meeting Jacob seemed like a very good thing for me. Ram was, and I understood and understood that maybe he needed this experience more than I did.”
