However, in his misery, he manages to find a little comfort when his owner sells him to Pearl Gassner, a beloved farmer whose kindness and benevolence is felt even in the name of his property: Paradise Corner.

But when Gassner’s operation faces bankruptcy, Maggie decides to take matters into her own hands. Along with Miss Calloway and Grace, two other cows on the farm, he sets out to find Alameda Slim to pocket the bounty on him.

Lowest rated in Disney Studios history

Let’s not argue: If The Farm Rebels received an audience rating of 2,067 stars out of 5 on AlloCiné (which officially makes it the worst animated classic in the history of Disney Studios), there are good reasons for that.

We’ll say it again, the 2000s were a really lean period (more so than ever) for the enchanted company. For some plays that were unfairly shunned by the public at the time, there is no shortage of good reasons for trying to rehabilitate them today. For others it is much more difficult.

This is especially true of Will Finn and John Sanford’s “Farm Rebels” in 2004, which is difficult to defend in every way. With a nonsensical script, rather crude animation, and a whole series of particularly heavy-handed gags, the studio’s 45th classic is far from its peers.

and yet…

And yet… if you’ve ever called yourself a true Disney fan, it’s absolutely essential that you catch up, if only to get an overview of the vast and complex history of this centuries-old studio, with its golden periods. .. but also others.

Please note that the film’s soundtrack was composed by the legendary Alan Menken (even if his genius shines here much less than in other productions such as Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast) and that the villain Alameda Slim is undoubtedly the best asset. Feature film, especially thanks to its humor.

What will you like…

  • Hence the evil Alameda Slim, who is still luring cows with iodine!
  • The three Willy brothers who are by his side are especially funny and silly.
