Abel Ferreira could leave the Football Academy. This Sunday (15th), the Portuguese newspaper “Record” reported Sporting’s interest in the Palmeiras coach. Then the newspaper “O Jogo” went further and said: the coach agreed to reduce his salary to work at the Leo club. For now, however, the people of Lisbon deny it.

The captain earns around 6 million euros (R$37.7 million) a year at Palmeiras. This figure, believed to be high, would prevent the Portuguese coach from going to Sporting.

According to the publication, at the moment, there would be a flirtation. Abel and Sporting talk while Leão searches for a name to replace manager Rúben Amorim, signed by Manchester United. Former Sporting player (his last club in his sporting career), Abel has a contract with Palmeiras until December 2025. The president of the club, Leila Pereira, aims to renew this contract.
