The victim has not yet been identified; the crime would have been motivated by romantic disagreements
The Civil Police arrested, this Thursday (19th), a 19-year-old young man suspected of having killed and set fire to a man, found charred inside a container in Bairro Campestre, in Santa Maria. The victim has not yet been identified.
After the crime, the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Department (DPHPP) identified the car used to bring the victim to the scene. The vehicle, a Volkswagen Gol, was located and seized at the suspect’s home, in Bairro Itararé.
The young man was arrested red-handed and taken to the Emergency Police Station (DPPA), before being taken to the Santa Maria Penitentiary (PESM). He already had a criminal record, including attempted qualified homicide, failure to comply with protective measures and domestic battery.
The investigations also revealed that the suspect purchased 5 liters of petrol at a petrol station, which confirms the victim’s carbonisation action. The crime was apparently motivated by a love dispute.
