Astrid and Raphael on France 2: [Spoilers] will he die

Be warned, the following paragraphs contain spoilers for the end of Astrid and Raphael Season 5 Episode 8. If you haven’t seen it yet, go ahead!

Astrid and Raphael’s writers have gotten into the unfortunate habit of ending seasons with cliffhangers that leave viewers wanting more. After the discovery of Raphael’s pregnancy and Tetsuo’s announced departure in the Season 4 finale, they once again do well as Season 5 ends with a character caught between life and death.

Raphael is in great danger

Astrid and Raphael’s investigation in Season 5 Episode 8 forces the two heroes to face off against one of their worst enemies. Although they thought they were working on a simple murder, they actually discover that it is Alain Lamarck (Stephane Guion) who is behind the whole story.

The criminal once again used his talent to manipulate others. While Astrid, Rafael and Nicola are on the roof of the building hoping to find the criminal, the latter comes directly to meet them.

He unfortunately takes Sam hostage and points a gun at him. When Raphael explains to him that he has no way out and that he will not be able to escape, Lamarck promises them:A brilliant finale, the ultimate fireworks display.”

He then grabs Sammy to fall into the void, but Raphael shoots Lamarck in the chest. Upset, he promises Astrid that they will meet again soon. “all my wishesHe concluded before collapsing to the ground, dead.

Rafael and Astrid think about getting rid of the criminal, preparing for the latter’s wedding, but Astrid will not think about Lamarck’s last words. The policeman asks him to forget the whole story. He can’t waste the happiest day of his life now that she’s dead.

But while Astrid is about to say yes to Tetsuo, Raphael decides to wear his friend’s wedding ring. Something bit him in the ring. As she is about to pass out, she realizes that Lamarck has poisoned Astrid’s ring to kill her.

Is Raphael dead?

This final scene leaves only one question: Will Raphael die? Fans can rest assured that the character played by Lola Dewey will survive this new ordeal.

Even if a Season 6 isn’t officially ordered yet, Astrid and Raphael should definitely be back for a blast of extra episodes. Therefore, there is very little chance that the writers will decide to kill one of the main characters of the series.

When asked by AlloCiné what to expect from the characters in the series, screenwriter Alexandre de Seguins indeed confided that the relationship between Rafael and Nicolas “Experience many twists and turns”, so it is assumed that he should survive this poisoning. It remains to be seen how this new ordeal will affect the investigator. We’ll have to wait for Season 6 to find out.
