Warley and Michel were released on bail paid by friends and deny involvement in the crime
Police approach
Warley and Michel, a well-known country couple from the north of Goiás, were arrested this week by the Federal Traffic Police (PRF), during a journey from Goiás to Tocantins. The approach took place in Uruaçu, when the police discovered that the vehicle they were in, a 2016 Toyota Corolla, had been stolen in Ribeirão Preto about a year ago and was driving with cloned license plates.
Although the car was registered to Warley, Michel was driving at the time of the approach. “I fell into a rut just because I was driving,” Michel said of the case.
Defense and prosecution
The two were accused of receiving a stolen vehicle and taken to the police station, where they were detained. Warley said he purchased the car through a future payment agreement, in which only installments already paid by the previous owner will be paid. “I have two cars like this. A childhood friend convinced me to buy them,” he explained.
He also highlighted the position of the police officers during the action. “The PRF did their job properly, they treated us very politely,” Warley said.
Deposit and support from friends
After paying bail, the singers were released. Warley revealed that the amount was raised through a fundraiser organized by friends. “I didn’t have to pay anything. I have so many friends who like the duo Warley and Michel, they know our nature and donated R $ 10,000 for a lawyer for us and R $ 5,000 for bail,” he said.
The PRF and the Civil Police have not yet commented on the case. The space remains open for updates and new statements on the case.
