Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known by the pseudonym Dr. Seuss, was an American author of children’s literature, famous for his illustrated books. His works have marked generations with creative stories, profound messages and unique characters.

His books, rich in rhymes and illustrations, received film adaptations that brought his creativity to the screen. Among his most famous characters are the Grinch, the green creature who hates Christmas, as well as the Cat in the Hat and the Lorax.

The first film based on a work by Seuss, “The Grinch” was directed by Ron Howard (from “The Da Vinci Code” and “A Beautiful Mind”) and starred Jim Carrey in the lead role. The Grinch is a green creature who hates Christmas.

Taking refuge in a cave with his dog Max, he plans to steal Who City’s gifts and decorations. At the same time, Cindy Lou, a curious girl from the city, questions the true meaning of Christmas. Their paths cross and they both discover the true Christmas spirit.

After the great success of “The Grinch”, another live-action film based on a work by Dr. Seuss was commissioned: an adaptation of the classic “The Cat in the Hat”. The film stars Mike Myers (“Austin Powers”) in the lead role, as well as Dakota Fanning and Alec Baldwin.

The story follows Sally and Conrad, two children whose lives are transformed when they meet an enormous talking cat wearing a top hat. However, when the family dog ​​runs away, the two embark on an adventure to get it back.

However, the film did not gross as much as expected and received many negative reviews, mainly due to its tone, which included jokes and content unsuitable for the indicative rating.

For this reason, Dr. Seuss’ family has decided to prevent the production of further live-action adaptations of his works.

Animation that adapts the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a tiny world inhabited by the Who in a grain of pollen. Despite being ridiculed by the other animals, Horton is committed to protecting them.

In the original voice cast, the production brings back Jim Carrey to the Dr. Seuss universe, voicing Horton, and Steve Carell (“The Office”) in the role of the mayor of Quemlândia.

In Brazil, Horton was voiced by Marco Ribeiro (famous for voicing several Jim Carrey and Tony Stark characters in the Marvel universe), while the mayor was voiced by comedian Tom Cavalcante.

Unlike “The Cat,” the film was a critical and box office success.

Determined to make this wish come true, he sets off on an adventure where he meets the Lorax, a protective creature of nature concerned about the future of his habitat.

In original voices, the film features Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Danny DeVito, who also voiced the Lorax character in several languages. In Brazil, the voice of the Lorax was performed by Júlio Chaves, known for voicing Marlin in “Finding Nemo.”
