The businessman who died in a plane crash in Gramado had already lost his mother in a plane crash

A tragic plane crash occurred in Gramado, Serra Gaúcha, involving a small plane. The plane, piloted by the businessman Luiz Claudio Salgueiro Galeazzihe fell after colliding with a chimney, hitting a house and falling onto a shop. The tragedy caused the death of the entrepreneur, owner of the plane and of the Galeazzi Associados company.

The accident, in addition to the killing of Luiz Galeazzi, raised questions about the safety of air operations. The businessman, a graduate of Fundação Getúlio Vargas, had a notable career in management and was known for his work in several economic sectors, such as telephony, healthcare and retail.

This event marks the family’s second aviation tragedy, after his mother died in a similar accident in 2010. She lost her life in an accident with a twin-engine plane that crashed in Iperó, in the Sorocaba region, about 125 kilometers from São Paolo, in January 2010.

What are the immediate consequences of the Gramado accident?

The plane crash in Gramado caused a large fire. At least 15 people were taken to a local hospital. Among them, 14 were affected by smoke inhalation and two suffered serious burns. The authorities’ response was not quick: Governor Eduardo Leite had previously informed that there were no survivors among the occupants of the plane.

The Brazilian Air Force has launched an investigation, gathering data to understand what led to the plane crash. Traffic in the region has been modified to ensure the safety of residents and facilitate the work of rescue teams. The emotional impact has been felt throughout the community, especially in a location that is a major tourist destination during the Christmas period.

Gramado, known for its Christmas celebrations, has seen its daily life altered by the accident. Avenida das Hortênsias, one of the city’s main arteries, hosts numerous tourist attractions and was at the height of its season with Natal Luz, attracting millions of visitors. Despite the accident, festive activities continue, but with a tone of mourning and solidarity.

The Christmas period is expected to still receive a large number of tourists. Although the number of visitors is expected to be slightly lower than in previous years, the city continues to prepare to welcome between 1.5 and 2 million visitors by the end of the season in January.

Solidarity and political consequences

After the accident, politicians and national leaders expressed solidarity with the victims and their families. The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and other political figures, such as the senator Luiz Carlos Heinze and former vice president Hamilton Mouraothey expressed their condolences.

The official response included the support of the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, who made his ministry available to offer support to the victims and facilitate any emergency needs in the investigation of the accident. The collective effort of the authorities aims to ensure a compassionate and effective response to the tragedy.
