Have you seen every episode of Batman and The New Batman Adventures? Congratulations, you love the DC animated universe! But do you know “The Lost Episode”, written by Paul Dean and pitting the Dark Knight against his most famous adversaries, such as the Joker or Poison Ivy?
This episode is part of the video game The Adventures of Batman and Robin, a platform game with many fight scenes. Released on several media between 1994 and 1995, it had a Mega CD version that was actually a completely different game. You control the batmobile or batwing through the streets or above Gotham City.
Excerpt from the cover of the game: Poison Ivy, Joker, Batwing and in the background, Riddler’s jacket
Between these scenes of purity gameplay, the player was treated to small, unreleased animated cutscenes of Batman sequentially confronting Poison Ivy and her plants, the Riddler in a virtual reality device, Harley Quinn and the Joker, then Rupert Thorne, and finally Clayface. At the end of the day, these little segments of The Dark Knight versus each supervillain add up to a coherent episode worthy of the animated series it’s inspired from.
You can find it here:
As we said, the story is written Paul DeanHarley Quinn creator and director Bruce Timm, head of animation for the Batman series and its sequels, New Batman Adventures, from which this game is taken. Contrary to what the title might lead you to believe, it is impossible to play a kidnapped Robin, just like Commissioner Gordon. To be honest, we don’t even control Batman because every stage in the CD version of the game is a car chase.

It remains that great aesthetic from the aforementioned series, and this small episode (17 minutes), of course, an excuse to insert the chase for the video game that accompanies it, but allows you to discover the unpublished story of one of the flagship series of the 90s.
