Airing tonight on TF1, Avatar: The Way of Water, the second installment in the franchise started by James Cameron in 2009, introduces many new characters.
In addition to their three biological children, Jake and Neytiri also adopted a daughter—a young Kiri, inexplicably born of Grace Augustine’s avatar—and a boy named Spider-Man, the first human born on Pandora to quickly leave the bunkers. GDR Planet Ship to explore the lush jungles.
Very quickly, in the first part of the feature film, we learn that his real name is not Spider-Man, but Miles, and that his biological father is none other than Colonel Miles Quaritch, the main antagonist of the first part.
Killed by Neytiri at the end of the film, the latter returns as a recombinant—that is, an avatar equipped with his memories and personality—and quickly reunites with his “son” Spider-Man.
So while the identity of the boy’s father is quickly established, the same is not true of his mother, about whom we know virtually nothing by the end of Avatar: The Waterway.

Now an orphan, young Miles was taken to an RDA base by one McCosker and always kept a photo of his mother with him. Very quickly, he felt the steel corridors of the human infrastructure and, equipped with a breathing mask, began to answer the call of the forest.
Befriended by Jake Sally and his family – even though Neytiri never accepted him as one of their own – the young boy grew up in the middle of the Na’vi jungle. His talent for climbing and his habit of hanging everywhere quickly earned him the nickname Spider.
