Yellowstone: The creator of the series loves himself very much and it shows on the screen!

Please note that below is a detailed plot of Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 13 available on Paramount+. If you haven’t seen it yet and don’t want to know anything about its content, I suggest you stop reading this article now.

Fortunately, ridicule does not kill. Before becoming the creator of Yellowstone and other successful series (Landman, Tulsa King, Special Operations: Lioness), Taylor Sheridan tried his luck as an actor. Despite a secondary role in the film “Sons of Anarchy” and a few more anecdotal appearances, he finally decided to conquer Hollywood as a screenwriter.

On the difficulty of separating a man from an artist

Taylor Sheridan has not completely given up on her acting career. The latter actually appeared in several of his series, most notably Yellowstone as Travis Wheatley, a very clichéd Texas cowboy. Sheridan decided to fill the role himself – which was not originally planned – because of his horsemanship and experience as a rancher.

This dual role as screenwriter and actor offers Taylor Sheridan the opportunity to showcase herself. In episode 13 of the final season of Yellowstone, the latter appears half-naked in the middle of a strip poker game (which he inevitably wins) in front of young women (so to speak). In the next scene, Travis’ girlfriend appears… in the guise of world famous model Bella Hadid.

The episode then takes an even more awkward turn. Beth Dutton asks Travis to help her sell the Yellowstone horses. He then suggests they play a game of strip poker (of course…) and Betty obliges because she has no choice. The game turns in the cowboy’s favor, who enjoys shooting him while he is unleashed against his will.

Season 5 has a series of uncomfortable episodes

But Travis finally reveals to him that no matter what happens, he will help the Duttons get rid of the horses. Therefore, the strip poker game was just a mean excuse to humiliate Bett. Angered, she warns him that her husband Rip will have little appreciation for this form of Texas humor. But against all odds, the story his wife tells him makes Rip smile.

He launches into a long and exciting tale of drunken brawls to explain the origins of his friendship with Travis. It’s hard not to see a parallel between the chic boy image given by the Texas cowboy and the image that Taylor Sheridan tries to appropriate through his character.

Especially since this story recalls the first meeting between Cole Hauser (Rip’s translator) and the American screenwriter…

This particularly uncomfortable episode adds to the sense of uneasiness that fans feel after the airing of the episode settling scores with Kevin Costner. A few weeks ago, Taylor Sheridan attacked the age and physical condition of the American actress. The latter did not respond to him, but revealed his decision not to watch the rest of the series.

The final episode of Yellowstone can be seen on December 30 in France on Paramount+, which is also offered as part of a Canal+ subscription.
